The hikes follow the United States Postal Service’s plans to increase rates by 9.3% to 12.3%. UPS has not yet announced 2019 rates.
FedEx Corp. announced today it will increase shipping rates effective Jan. 7, 2019, by an average of 4.9% for U.S. domestic, U.S. export and U.S. import services.
Rates for FedEx Ground category—which is used for the bulk of e-commerce orders—will increase by an average of 4.9%, as will FedEx Home Delivery. FedEx SmartPost shipping rates will also increase.
FedEx Ground delivers in one to seven business days, based on distance to the destination. With FedEx Home Delivery, customers can schedule shipments for times convenient to them—including evenings and on Saturdays for most locations. SmartPost is used to ship low-weight residential shipments and returns.
